Sorry to be the bearer of bad news! I’ve been putting it off for so long because, like you I found the instructions overly complicated. Separation is often caused by over-dilution of the soap paste. Is it possible to remove it from the recipe? This is probably a stupid question but I was wondering if you could dilute the paste with anything other than water? It may be that the pH acts as a preservative in most cases, but the addition of botanicals, or over-enthusiastic dilution may shorten the shelf life which might be quite lengthy otherwise. Adding more water than paste (and not interfering by smooshing it to melt), allows the paste to soak everything in and stay liquid….
