It's a really good path most of the way, although the last section to the bealach is very badly eroded. No only did the path split here, but at this so did our group of eleven. At one point, a rope handrail is conveniently situated to help the walker over some stone slabs, which are at an awkward angle, and quite slippery when wet. Bidean nam Bian is a 7 mile loop trail located near Ballachulish, Highland, Scotland that features a lake and is rated as difficult. I would start in Glen Etive at the parking area just past Dalness, walk directly up Stob Coire Sgreamhach, onto Bidean nam Bian, find a way down then climb Beinn Maol Chaluim, onto Sgor na h-Ulaidh, then Beinn Fhionnlaidh and walk back to the car park. Despise the poor weather conditions, this was an excellent days walk, challenging and strenuous but with a marvelous summit - pity about the views, but then that leaves the option to return again on another day. Once across the narrow footbridge, the path climbing up through the ravine has a number of sections where care is required, especially in the wet. The rocky path along this section runs perilously close to some very dramatic crags which drop away on the left (as you walk from Bidean to the Bealach). We drop down the ridgeline through the snow. A demanding route over some rough ground - easy scrambling in places. Therefore it seemed the perfect opportunity for us to tackle the mighty Bidean Nam Bian.
